Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to a 133-95 blowout of the Minnesota Timberwolves, tying their NBA playoff series at 1-1.
After a surprise home loss on Monday, the second-seeded Spurs responded emphatically, reestablishing themselves as the favorites to advance in the Western Conference matchup.
The 7-foot-4 star delivered another dominant performance with 19 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, helping San Antonio post its highest playoff point total since 1983.
The reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year anchored a defense that held Minnesota to just 35 first-half points, the Timberwolves’ lowest-scoring half of the season, effectively putting the game out of reach before halftime.
“I'm expecting this kind of response from myself, from my teammates, so I'm not surprised by any means,” said Wembanyama.
“There is some ego. They assaulted us in game one, we wanted to assault in game two,” the Frenchman added.
Minnesota’s 24-point halftime deficit grew even larger after the break, reaching as much as 47 points before San Antonio pulled its starters late.

The lopsided result followed Minnesota’s head coach accusing Wembanyama of repeated illegal goaltending in Game 1, a game in which the French center set a playoff record with 12 blocks. When asked if that fueled him going into Game 2, Wembanyama said: “There always is. In the playoffs, magnify that.”
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, who starred in Game 1 after returning from a left knee injury, managed only 12 points and sat out the entire fourth quarter with his legs iced on the bench.
