Son Heung-min and LAFC were eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup after a 4-0 defeat to Deportivo Toluca in Wednesday’s second leg, setting up an all-Mexican final.
Toluca advanced 5-2 on aggregate and will meet Tigres UANL for the regional crown, marking the first time in five years that no MLS club has reached the final.
Helinho opened the scoring from the penalty spot and Everardo Lopez added a long-range strike before LAFC’s Ryan Porteous was shown a late red card, triggering a collapse.
Paulinho tapped in at the far post and then finished with a stoppage-time strike to cap Toluca’s comeback from a 2-1 first-leg deficit.
It was a tough night for LAFC’s star lineup, as their push for a late equalizer left them exposed at the back and Toluca capitalized.

Denis Bouanga and Timothy Tillman missed a clear two-on-one opportunity in the eighth minute that could have put LAFC up 3-1 on aggregate, and Toluca seized control from there even after hitting the woodwork four times.
LAFC’s own mistakes compounded the trouble. Ryan Hollingshead gave away a penalty with a late challenge on Paulinho in the box, and Scottish defender Ryan Porteous was sent off after a clumsy attempt to win the ball following Nicolas Castro’s high press.
The final is scheduled for May 30.
