The New York Mets are bringing up their No. 2 prospect, A.J. Ewing, and he’ll make his MLB debut later this week.
At 21 years old, Ewing ranks as MLB’s No. 78 overall prospect. He’s been on fire in the minors this year, slashing .339 overall and .326 in Triple-A, with 2 homers, 11 RBIs, and 17 steals to his name.
The Mets drafted Ewing in the fourth round back in 2023. His first full year in the minors was a struggle - he hit .233 with 10 home runs over 90 games in 2024. But the Ohio native bounced back in a big way in 2025.

Even with just 3 home runs, Ewing put together a standout season: 70 stolen bases, 68 walks, a .315 average, and 55 RBIs across 124 games.
His 70 steals placed him fifth in all of Minor League Baseball last year. Among the top five base stealers, he was the only one to also bat over .300 and drive in more than 50 runs.
The Mets are on track for 100+ losses this year, and they’re tied with the Orioles and Rangers for the sixth-fewest stolen bases in MLB with just 19. Ewing’s speed could give that number a serious boost.
New York also owns the second-lowest team batting average at .222, and is tied with San Francisco for the worst on-base percentage in the league at .287.
