Massimiliano Allegri looks set for a quick return to the dugout after reportedly agreeing verbally to become Napoli’s next manager. The deal comes just days after his dismissal from AC Milan.
The former Milan coach is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal. He’ll take over at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, stepping in for Antonio Conte, who left by mutual consent when the season ended.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis moved fast to get his top target, with talks reportedly speeding up in the last 24 hours. The update comes from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Allegri came out on top of Napoli’s shortlist, beating out names like Vincenzo Italiano. The club ran an internal selection process focused on finding a manager who could bring stability and proven top-level experience.

Personal terms are agreed, but the deal isn’t official yet. A few administrative steps still need to be wrapped up before Napoli can announce him.
Before he can officially start, Allegri also has to sort out the contract situation from his exit at Milan. Once that’s cleared, he’ll be free to take charge.
