PSV are keen to tie down vice-captain Mauro Júnior on a new deal, but they’re facing competition from FC Porto and Leeds United, according to reports in the Dutch press on Thursday.

The 27-year-old has become a key player in Peter Bosz’s dominant PSV side. In nine seasons at Eindhoven he’s picked up four Eredivisie titles.

Mauro Junior is tied to PSV until 2029 after signing an extension last summer, but the club wants to go even further. According to Voetbal International, PSV are pushing for another extension and also want to remove the release clause from his deal.

The Dutch champions are trying to fend off interest from Porto, Leeds United, and “several South European clubs.” For Mauro Júnior, it’s a career crossroads. While he’s thriving at PSV, a move away might improve his chances of breaking into the Brazil national team setup.

Since joining from Desportivo Brasil in 2017, the 27-year-old has made 200 appearances for PSV. In that time he’s scored 9 goals and added 23 assists across all competitions.
