PSG turn focus to Arsenal final after 'hardest match' win over Bayern

Luis Enrique praised PSG’s defensive resolve after Harry Kane’s late strike proved too little for Bayern in a tense semi-final second leg.

The French champions booked their place after a 1-1 draw in the return leg at Bayern secured a 6-5 aggregate triumph, setting up a meeting with the Premier League leaders.

Kvaratskhelia described beating the German side as PSG’s toughest challenge of the campaign to date.

“Very happy we're in the final. We know it will be difficult against Arsenal. Bayern are one of the best teams right now – it was very difficult, the hardest one of the season,” Kvaratskhelia told Canal Plus.

“We showed we can play against these teams.”

Ousmane Dembele, who netted twice in the first leg, struck again early in Munich, finishing a precise low cross from Kvaratskhelia within three minutes.

The early goal put PSG two up on aggregate, and while they stayed a threat going forward, they were happy to sit deeper and manage the game.

Harry Kane pulled one back for Bayern in stoppage time with his 55th goal of the season, but it came too late to change the outcome as PSG progressed to the Budapest final on May 30th.

Luis Enrique commended his team’s resilience, noting that despite Bayern’s late push to turn the tie around, PSG held firm at the back.

“The character we showed against a team like Bayern is so positive. We're so happy to reach a second Champions League final in a row,” Luis Enrique told reporters.

“It was very intense. Very difficult. They play football at the highest level. Both teams are similar, we love to press high. We are very happy.“
