Udinese have rallied behind Keinan Davis after the forward reported racial abuse and had an initial yellow card from the incident later revoked...

Udinese said on Saturday that it stands fully behind striker Keinan Davis after he reported being racially abused during the club’s 2-0 victory at Cagliari in Serie A.

The English forward alleged that Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena directed a racist slur at him during the match.

“Udinese Calcio wishes to express its full support for Keinan Davis following the disgraceful racist insults he was subjected to by an opposition player during this afternoon's game,” Udinese said in a statement.

“The club strongly condemns such despicable behaviour, which causes serious harm to the image and the values of the sport we love.”

Davis reported the alleged abuse to match officials in the heated closing stages. He was initially shown a yellow card, but the booking was later rescinded.

The 28-year-old later posted on Instagram that Dossena had called him a monkey. Dossena denied the accusation in a post on the same platform.
