Chelsea winger Estevao has flown back to Brazil to carry on his hamstring rehabilitation at Palmeiras, the club where he began his career.

At 19, he’s now in a race against the clock to regain fitness before the World Cup, with his spot in the squad hanging in the balance.

Estevao hasn’t played since April 18th, after sustaining the hamstring issue in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Prior to the injury he looked a near certainty for Brazil’s squad following a strong start to his international career.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side kick off their World Cup campaign against Morocco on June 13th, giving Estevao little time to recover. Brazil are in Group C with Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, and will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 2002.
