EPL: Man City Drop Points in Dramatic Draw, Fall Five Behind Arsenal

Everton Vs Man City
Everton and City share spoils in chaotic Premier League clash

The result puts Arsenal in charge of the title race, with City unable to close the gap after dropping two points at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Doku’s 97th-minute equaliser rescues point for City in six-goal thriller...

Everton’s boost from Beto’s return to the lineup faded quickly as City started strongly. Rayan Cherki forced a save from Pickford, and Antoine Semenyo then rolled the rebound across the face of goal.

Semenyo blazed over in the 21st minute, but Everton still looked likely to extend their nine-year winless run against City.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall gave the hosts a brief lift in the 25th minute when Abdukodir Khusanov deflected a counterattack shot wide.

That sparked Everton briefly, and Merlin Rohl soon found Beto in the box with an even clearer chance. Gianluigi Donnarumma stretched to get a crucial hand on the ball.

Manchester City responded to the warning and regained control, going ahead three minutes before halftime. Cherki laid the ball back to Jeremy Doku, who curled a strike from the edge of the area high past Pickford’s dive.

The second half started with City still controlling the tempo, and the next two clear chances fell to Iliman Ndiaye on Everton counters.

Ndiaye was forced wide on the first and his shot lacked the power to beat Donnarumma low to his right. Moments later he was put through by a bad bounce, but the Italian goalkeeper came out and made a point-blank save low to his left.

Thierno Barry came on for Beto and equalised in bizarre fashion minutes later. Marc Guehi’s interception of Rohl’s through ball looked routine, but a mishit backpass let Barry nip in and roll it past Donnarumma into the bottom-left corner.

City’s composure slipped after giving the lead away so cheaply, though Marc Guehi made partial amends by blocking Ndiaye at the near post with 20 minutes left.

The reprieve didn’t last. Jake O’Brien finished the turnaround from the next corner, heading home James Garner’s inswinger at the near post.

Iliman Ndiaye missed a chance to put the game beyond doubt in the 75th minute, shooting straight at Donnarumma after being played through.

Thierno Barry made no such mistake. Rohl broke down the right after getting past Mateo Kovacic, and his cross-shot deflected to Barry, who tapped in.

City pulled one back almost immediately as Erling Haaland burst through and lobbed Pickford.

With defeat threatening to end their title hopes, City threw everyone forward in search of an equaliser.

City found the equaliser in the final seconds when Doku collected the ball from a corner and drilled it into the far-right corner past Pickford.

Even with the late point, City will feel this was the night the challenger got the better of the champion, with the Premier League title now firmly Arsenal’s to lose.
