Inter beat Lazio 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to lift their 10th Coppa Italia and seal a Serie A and cup double for the first time since 2010...
Inter Milan secured a 10th Coppa Italia trophy with a 2-0 win over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, completing a domestic double for the first time since 2010.
Although their Serie A meeting at the same ground four days earlier carried no stakes, Inter’s 3-0 victory there would have given them a clear psychological edge heading into the final.
Apart from a few rash challenges early on, the Serie A champions looked in control and took a deserved lead in the 14th minute.
Federico Dimarco’s corner glanced off Marcus Thuram at the near post, deflecting in off Adam Marusic’s head and into the net.
Without Maurizio Sarri on the touchline, Lazio had the backing of a near-home crowd who had largely stayed away in protest earlier in the season. They tried to respond but were repeatedly shut down before they could build any momentum past midfield.
Inter’s high press proved decisive for the second goal when Nuno Tavares was dispossessed on the right by Denzel Dumfries. The wing-back kept his composure and cut the ball across goal for Lautaro Martínez to finish from close range.
Lazio looked deflated for the rest of the half, but came out with more energy after the break and nearly pulled one back when Tijjani Noslin shot just wide.

Inter remained dangerous on the break. Luis Henrique blazed over after being teed up by Dimarco, and Piotr Zieliński dragged an effort past the post from the edge of the box.
Boulaye Dia did force Josep Martínez into a save as Lazio pushed for a late twist, but the Spanish goalkeeper handled it cleanly and helped his side close out a comfortable win.
The result made Inter the first team since Juventus in 2017/18 to win both Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the same season. With the league already secured, their final two games now serve as a celebration of a successful first year under Cristian Chivu.

For Lazio, defeat ended their last chance to qualify for Europe next season. They will now aim to avoid finishing in the bottom half for the first time in 16 years.
