Chelsea-Bound Emegha Faces Race Against Time After Hamstring Injury
Emegha ruled out as Strasbourg face Vallecano deficit

The 23-year-old will also sit out Strasbourg’s last two Ligue 1 matches, with only a slim chance of returning for the final if the club progresses.

Emegha has made 18 appearances and scored eight goals this season after his permanent move to Chelsea was confirmed in September...

Gary O'Neil has confirmed Emmanuel Emegha will be unavailable for Strasbourg’s UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg at home on Thursday.

The Ligue 1 side trail 1-0 heading into the tie after Alemao’s 54th-minute goal gave Rayo Vallecano the advantage in the first leg.

Overturning that deficit and booking a place in the final in Germany will now require Strasbourg to do so without their 23-year-old forward, who has picked up a hamstring injury that sidelines him for both the European clash and the club’s remaining two league games.

O'Neil did leave a small opening for Emegha to feature in the final should Strasbourg progress, saying there’s “maybe a chance” he could return. For now though, Thursday’s game could well be his last appearance in a Strasbourg shirt.

The forward’s permanent transfer to Chelsea on a seven-year deal was announced in September, but his debut season at the club has been disrupted by repeated injury setbacks.

Capped by the Netherlands, Emegha has managed just 18 appearances across all competitions this year, scoring eight goals during his limited time on the pitch.
