Nathan Tella provided two assists and scored to help Leverkusen win...
Bayer Leverkusen halted RB Leipzig’s five-match winning streak in the Bundesliga with a 4-1 win that lifted them into the top four with two games left to play.
Leipzig knew earlier results meant victory would seal a Champions League spot, and they came out attacking. Romulo Cardoso set the tone, flashing a shot just wide in the first five minutes before Aleix Garcia hooked his follow-up off the line.
Leipzig paid for those early misses when a quickly taken goal kick found Nathan Tella in the box. Tella kept his composure and squared for former Leipzig striker Patrik Schick, who put Leverkusen in front.
The goal sparked Leverkusen into life, and they almost made it 2-0 moments later. Tella broke down the left and drove a shot across goal that Maarten Vandevoordt parried straight to Schick, but El Chadaille Bitshiabu produced a heroic clearance off the line.
Leipzig offered little before half-time, though Xaver Schlager came close to leveling with a 30-yard strike that whistled just wide with Mark Flekken beaten.
Leverkusen went into the break two goals up after Tella ghosted in at the back post to sweep home Aleix García’s delivery seconds before half-time.
Tella wasn’t done after scoring and assisting, and remained a constant threat. He delivered another perfect cross for Schick, but the striker was denied by Vandevoordt’s legs.
Leipzig tried to spark a comeback with attacking changes, but they made little impact. Alejandro Grimaldo nearly put the game beyond them with 10 minutes left, curling a free-kick onto the roof of the net.

Leverkusen put the game out of reach late on when Schick raced clear and slotted home to make it 3-0. Leipzig pulled one back through Christoph Baumgartner, but Schick responded almost immediately, bursting through again to complete his hat-trick and restore the three-goal lead.
Helped by Tiago Tomás’s late equalizer for Hoffenheim earlier in the day, Leverkusen have now won five of the last seven meetings with Leipzig. The result leaves them in control of their own top-four fate with two matches left.
Leipzig are still on course for Champions League qualification and need only one win from their final two games to secure a spot.
