Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has called up 28 players for the World Cup preparation camp and the friendly against Wales in Cardiff on June 2nd. It is his largest squad so far as the Black Stars begin their final phase of World Cup preparations.
The squad includes five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards. Players are set to start arriving in Cardiff from Monday, May 25th.
Players including Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Fatawu Issahaku, and Benjamin Asare have already started training at Dragon Park. Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have now entered the final and most important stage.
The squad announcement also brings several key storylines. The main headline is the return of Abdul Baba Rahman.
The left-back, who plays in Greece, has not featured for the Black Stars since September 2023. He has been recalled after a strong and consistent season with PAOK in the Greek Super League.
Two other notable returnees have their own comeback stories. Olympique Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah is back after an ACL injury kept him out for over 12 months and caused him to miss 54 games for club and country. He has been included after being cleared fully fit.
Rayo Vallecano centre-back Abdul Mumin also returns following a 13-month recovery from an ACL injury. The 27-year-old made his return off the bench in Rayo’s 1-0 win over Espanyol in April.
The theme of returns continues across the squad. Saint-Etienne midfielder Augustine Boakye is included after missing the Mexico friendly last month despite being called up. He joins Stade Rennes defender Alidu Seidu in the group.

Ajax Amsterdam youngster Paul Reverson has also kept his place. The 20-year-old goalkeeper was first called up for the Mexico game and returns again, this time with a long-term view in mind.
The match against Wales on June 2nd will be Ghana’s penultimate game before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team is expected to play one more friendly in the USA.
Ghana will announce their final 26-man squad on June 1st. They open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17th at BMO Field in Toronto. They then face England in Boston on June 23rd and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27th.
