Arsenal Premier League Champions 2025: Arteta Reacts to Title Win
| Arteta says winning Premier League was one of best feelings of his life |
Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after City dropped points at Bournemouth, with Arteta hailing it as a historic moment.
Champions of England with one game to spare, Arsenal now turn to the Champions League final vs PSG for a chance to complete a remarkable double...
Mikel Arteta said he was alone in his garden barbecuing when Arsenal clinched their first Premier League title in 22 years this week.
Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday made Arsenal champions of England for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
Arteta called winning the league after six and a half years in charge “one of the best feelings I have ever had.”
He also admitted he did not watch any of City’s game at the Vitality Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side needed a win to keep the title race alive until the final day.
“I was supposed to be here, (at the training ground), watching the game with the boys and certain staff because that's what they wanted -- but I couldn't,” he said on Thursday.
“I think 20 minutes later, before the game, I had to leave. I couldn't bring the energy that I wanted, and ultimately it was their moment as well to watch it together, to be themselves and just see what the outcome would be.
"I went home, I went outside to the garden and I started to build some fire and started to do some barbecue. I didn't watch any of it. I was just hearing some noises in the background, in the living room and suddenly the magic happened.
“My oldest son opened the garden door, he started to run towards me, he started to cry gave me a hug and said: 'We are Champions, daddy'.”
The Spaniard added: “It was magical.”
