Arsenal reigning champions secured their spot in the Women's Champions League semi-finals with a thrilling 3-2 aggregate win over Chelsea, despite losing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final second leg. Chelsea, fueled by the need to catch up, started the game at a frenetic pace, but Arsenal's defense held strong.

The match was intense, with Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor getting sent off late in the game due to her protests over a hair-pulling incident involving Arsenal's Katie McCabe and Chelsea's Alyssa Thompson. Despite the red card, Chelsea pushed hard, but Arsenal's keeper Daphne van Domselaar made crucial saves to keep the scoreline intact.

Arsenal quickly got Chelsea out of their rhythm, and the home side didn't manage a single shot on target in the first half. The visitors took their time with every dead ball, frustrating Chelsea.

Arsenal improved in the second half, but the real drama happened late on. Chelsea pushed hard, throwing everything forward to get back in the tie.

Arsenal substitute Stina Blackstenius thought she'd scored in the 80th minute, heading home from a cross by Smilla Holmberg, but the goal was chalked off after a VAR review found she was just offside in the build-up. It was a heartbreaker for Arsenal, given the momentum they'd built up.

Chelsea poured forward in the dying moments, and defender Veerle Buurman struck the post with a late shot. Moments later, midfielder Sjoeke Nuesken's header was spectacularly saved by Arsenal keeper Daphne van Domselaar, who tipped it onto the inside of the far post and to safety. The tension was palpable.

Arsenal's Beth Mead had a stoppage-time shot ricochet off the far post, keeping Chelsea's hopes alive. Just when it seemed like Arsenal would hold on, Sjoeke Nuesken pounced in the 94th minute, sweeping home a first-time shot to set up a frenetic finale.

The match ended in chaos as Chelsea's manager Sonia Bompastor was sent off for protesting a non-call involving Arsenal's Katie McCabe and Chelsea's Alyssa Thompson. Bompastor picked up two yellows for her outburst, leaving Chelsea without a manager for the final moments.

Arsenal awaits the winner of Lyon vs Wolfsburg, with Wolfsburg leading 1-0 into Thursday's second leg. Bayern Munich faces the winner of Barcelona vs Real Madrid, with Barca up 6-2 ahead of the second leg.
