Skelleftea score 4 in first period to cruise past Rogle 5-1 in Game 2 of SHL Final. Top seeds now two wins from reclaiming Le Mat Trophy...

Skelleftea are two wins from two in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) finals after scoring four times in the opening 19 minutes of a 5-1 home win over Rogle.

After a 4-1 win in Game 1 of the Le Mat Trophy showdown, the top seeds made home advantage count again. Two more wins in Ängelholm before the end of the month would see them reclaim the SHL title.

Skelleftea added a third after just over six minutes when Mikkel Aagaard got the slightest touch on a quick turn-and-shot from Oscar Lindberg. The other Lindberg - Valter Lindberg - then created the home side’s fourth, setting up Oliver Okuliar to all but seal the game in the first period.

A penalty from Rickard Hugg at the end of the first gave Rogle another power play to start the second. This time they capitalized, as Lucas Ekestahl-Jonsson’s shot was deflected by Lubos Horky and then Josh Dickinson on its way in.

But a comeback never looked likely for the visitors. It was finally put to rest in the final eight minutes when Hugg atoned for his earlier penalty by setting up Valter Lindberg to make it 5-1.

Rogle now must win at least one of their two upcoming home games to keep the series alive. They’ll be desperate to avoid falling 3-0 behind when the teams meet again on Tuesday, the 28th.
