Serie A: Cremonese Held by Torino in Goalless Draw as Relegation Threat Lingers
| Cremonese stay above drop zone after draw stalemate with Torino |
Cremonese’s home winless run continued with a 0-0 draw vs Torino. They remain 17th, one point clear of Lecce who play Monday.
Alberto Paleari’s big save and VAR kept it 0-0 as Cremonese and Torino shared the points. Cremonese still in relegation trouble...
Relegation still looms for Cremonese after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Torino in Serie A’s early kick-off on Sunday.
La Cremo entered the game needing a result, sitting 17th but level on points with Lecce in the relegation zone. They made one change to the XI as Antonio Sanabria replaced David Okereke, while Torino stayed unchanged after back-to-back wins over the past two weeks.
It was a dull first 45 from both sides. They combined for just two shots in the half, neither on target.
The first was a blocked Alberto Grassi effort from a Cremonese corner. The second came in the 41st minute when Federico Bonazzoli flashed a left-footed shot well wide from the corner of the penalty area.
Bonazzoli went much closer with the game’s first shot on target in the 57th minute. He curled another left-footed effort that was bound for the top corner, but Alberto Paleari stretched to tip it behind for a corner.

Federico Baschirotto thought he had broken the deadlock two-thirds of the way through after a scramble from an Alessio Zerbin delivery, but VAR ruled the goal out. Officials judged that Baschirotto had fouled keeper Paleari while lunging to force the ball over the line.
David Okereke burst down the right and whipped a great ball across the face of goal, but Marcus Holmgren Pedersen made a crucial interception just before it reached Sanabria.
Despite late pressure, Cremonese and Torino finished goalless on Sunday. Cremonese are still without a home Serie A win since early December and sit just one point above the relegation zone, with 18th-placed Lecce playing Monday night knowing they can overtake them. Torino stay 12th and will remain there for the week regardless of other results.
