Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury picked up during Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace, Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed.

The 33-year-old winger, who has already confirmed he will depart the reigning Premier League champions this summer, applauded the Anfield crowd as he was forced off in the 60th minute.

Liverpool have yet to provide an official update on Salah’s condition. But Hassan insists the Egyptian forward has already played his last game for the Reds.

“He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment,” Hassan said.

After nine trophy-laden seasons at Anfield, Salah’s Liverpool journey is over. Ruled out through injury, his farewell will come not with goals but with words as he addresses fans after the season finale against Brentford.

Liverpool still have two home games left, against Chelsea on May 9 and Brentford on May 24, plus trips to Manchester United on May 3 - a fixture Salah has often dominated - and Aston Villa on May 17.

Salah, Liverpool’s third-highest scorer of all time, has registered 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.

Hassan expects Salah to be fit for the 2026 World Cup, where Egypt have been drawn against Belgium, New Zealand and Iran in Group G.

Salah is determined to recover for the tournament in North America, which kicks off on June 11, and avoid the same injury frustration he endured before the 2018 World Cup.

He damaged his shoulder in the 3-1 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, and although he scored twice in two games, Egypt exited at the group stage in Russia.
