Detroit Tigers' center fielder Parker Meadows is in the hospital after a nasty collision with teammate Riley Greene during a game against the Minnesota Twins. The two players crashed into each other while chasing a fly ball in the eighth inning, and Meadows was taken out of the game on a stretcher.

Meadows, who was 0-for-3 at the plate, suffered a concussion and a broken left arm radius bone in the collision. He also received five stitches inside his mouth after biting his tongue during the impact. Manager A.J. Hinch expressed concern for Meadows' condition, saying “this one worries me.”

Greene, who made the catch, seemed shaken by the incident and said he felt “terrible” about the collision. Meadows has been placed on the 10-day injured list, and the Tigers have recalled outfielder Wenceel Perez from Triple-A Toledo.

Greene kept his cool with the ball in hand as Meadows fell hard, blood trickling from his mouth after their heads collided.

“It was a terrible feeling,” Greene said, going over to check on Meadows before medical staff rushed in and helped Meadows onto a cart.

The Tigers said Meadows would stay in hospital overnight for observation.

“That was an ugly, scary one,” Tigers manager A.J Hinch said. “When we got out there, it looked like he had bit his lip or inside his mouth, so there was some blood, and he was pretty out of it.

“Those are scary collisions. You don't know what you're going to get when you get there,” Hinch added. “Obviously we're going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me.”
