Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal is drawing inspiration from LeBron James and Neymar ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid. The 18-year-old winger is looking to lead Barcelona's comeback after a 2-0 loss in the first leg at Camp Nou.

Yamal changed his Instagram profile picture to an image of LeBron James celebrating the 2016 NBA title, symbolizing his desire for a miraculous turnaround. He's been vocal about his confidence in Barcelona's ability to overturn the deficit, saying “This isn't over yet, Culers. We'll give everything in the return match.”

Yamal updated his Instagram profile picture to a photo of LeBron James lifting the NBA championship trophy in 2016, celebrating the Cavaliers' epic comeback win over the Warriors.

“He's one of the reference points that can inspire me for tomorrow's game, that's why I put him there,” Yamal told reporters.

“I will think about what he did and I hope it goes the same way for me.”

Closer to home, Yamal's also drawing inspiration from Barcelona's own comeback heroics - Neymar's stunning performance in the 2017 Champions League round of 16 against PSG. Barcelona overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit with a 6-1 win at Camp Nou, with Neymar scoring a hat-trick and leading the charge.

“I've watched that game many times and saw it live too,” said the 18-year-old.

"Neymar is a player who has marked all of my childhood, he is my idol, I will be grateful to him forever for what he has given football.

“He's the kind of player you buy a ticket to watch... I hope he can be at the World Cup.”

Lamine Yamal was a standout performer for Barcelona last season, helping them secure a domestic treble. However, their European campaign ended in disappointment with a semi-final defeat to Inter Milan. Despite being largely neutralized by Atletico Madrid's tight marking in the first leg, Yamal remains confident about leading Barcelona's comeback.

The 18-year-old Spain international was voted the second-best player in the world at the Ballon d'Or awards last year, and he's determined to prove himself against Atletico Madrid. He's drawing inspiration from LeBron James' 2016 NBA Finals comeback, changing his Instagram profile picture to a photo of James lifting the championship trophy.

“I think Lamine has performed really well in the last games, and what I say to him is he has to do the things where he's the best in the world at the moment - one against one situations,“ said Flick.

Yamal is hoping for a more open game in the second leg, giving him the freedom to create and make an impact. "I hope to get more freedom in the second leg," he said, confident that he can make a difference at the Metropolitano Stadium.

“I feel very good and really looking forward to tomorrow's game, I hope I can make the difference,“ added Yamal.

“Let's see if (Simeone) does me a favour and leaves me one on one against a player.”
