Flights, Hotels, Tickets: The Real Cost of 10 Days at the World Cup for Four
| How much will it cost an average family of four to attend the FIFA World Cup? |
UEFA froze EURO 2028 prices. Fans could get five EURO tickets for the cost of one World Cup parking space in the U.S.
Category 3 World Cup tickets start at €188, but flights, food, and transport push a family trip past €15,000 for 10 days.
Football fans who are committed followers of their national teams attend FIFA World Cup matches regularly, but for many it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip that takes years of planning in advance. With fans and families now looking to support their nations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Mon Diaries have looked into what it would cost a family of four to attend just the group stages of football’s greatest spectacle this summer.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has no doubt been marked in calendars for football fans all over the globe ever since the United States, Canada, and Mexico were confirmed as co-hosts of the tournament. However, with prices on just about anything from petrol to hotels and food soaring, you will need deep pockets to follow your team in the group stage matches of the World Cup, let alone for the entire tournament.
This summer’s tournament expands from 32 to 48 nations, so the two finalists will now play eight matches across North America instead of seven.
Since nobody can know how deep their team will go, Mon Diaries based its estimates on the group stage. The calculation covers a family of four spending 10 days at the World Cup to see all three opening games, including flights, lodging, transport, tickets, and food.
Mon Diaries used England as the test case. Their three group games are set for June 17th in Arlington, Texas; June 23rd in Foxborough, Massachusetts; and June 27th in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
For England supporters flying London to Dallas, expect to pay around €1,490 per person. That covers a multi-city route that also takes in the later group games in Massachusetts and New Jersey.
A 10-day stay in mid-range, three-star hotels during England’s group stage will run close to €3,670 for a family of four.
Official Category 3 ‘Supporter Value’ tickets for England’s 2026 World Cup group matches are priced from €188 to €204 each.
Getting from hotels to the stadiums is projected to cost roughly €200 per person for the group stage.
Budget about €669 per person for food and drink across the 10-day trip.
