Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike was carried off in tears during the first half of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain after what looked like a serious injury.
The forward pointed to his Achilles as medical staff treated him on the pitch before he was stretchered off at Anfield.
Ekitike was consoled by PSG and Liverpool players as he was stretchered off the pitch after suffering a non-contact leg injury.

The injury could have major implications beyond Liverpool’s season, with Ekitike set to feature for France at the World Cup in June-July.

Ekitike has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season since Liverpool signed him from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69 million in July.
