They face a tough playoff against Jamaica/New Caledonia winner...

Yoane Wissa has rejoined the DR Congo squad for their crucial World Cup playoff this month. The Newcastle United forward had been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in September, but he's back in contention after missing the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Wissa's injury had kept him out of action until December, and coach Sebastien Desabre opted to leave him out of the Cup of Nations squad to ensure he was in top form for the World Cup playoff. The DR Congo team is looking strong, with other notable players like defender Dylan Batubinsika and Watford right back Jeremy Ngakia also returning to the squad.

The Congolese will face either Jqmaica or New Caledonia in Guadalajara, Mexico, on March 31, vying for a spot in Group K of the World Cup alongside Colombia, Portugal, and Uzbekistan.

The Congolese team was eliminated in the round of 16 at the tournament in Morocco. However, they still have a chance to become the 10th African country to qualify for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the US starting in June.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) is currently ranked second in Group B with 22 points, behind Senegal's 24 points. They've secured a spot in the second round of the CAF World Cup qualification and will face Nigeria in the semi-finals.

The team will face off in the inter-confederation playoff in Guadalajara, Mexico, on March 31st. Their opponent will be either Jamaica or New Caledonia, who will clash five days prior. The winner of this matchup will secure a spot in the World Cup and join Group K alongside Colombia, Portugal, and Uzbekistan.

DR Congo coach Sebastien Desabre has announced his 26-man squad for the World Cup playoff, and it's a strong lineup. Defender Dylan Batubinsika from Greek side AEL and Watford right back Jeremy Ngakia are back in the team, alongside Elche's former England under-21 midfielder Grady Diangana, who missed the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The squad features a mix of experienced players and emerging talent, with Newcastle United's Yoane Wissa returning after missing the Africa Cup of Nations due to injury. Other notable players include captain Chancel Mbemba, Axel Tuanzebe, and Arthur Masuaku in defense, while midfield options include Samuel Moutoussamy, Edo Kayembe, and Charles Pickel.

DR Congo will face either Jamaica or New Caledonia in the inter-confederation playoff on March 31 in Guadalajara, Mexico, with a spot in Group K of the World Cup up for grabs alongside Colombia, Portugal, and Uzbekistan.

Can DR Congo become the 10th African team at World Cup 2026?
