Pedro Neto has apologized for pushing a ball boy during Chelsea's 5-2 Champions League defeat to Paris St Germain. The incident happened in stoppage time at the Parc des Princes, causing the ball boy to fall into a chair and sparking a confrontation between players.
Neto explained that he acted in the heat of the moment, wanting to quickly retrieve the ball as Chelsea was losing. He has since spoken to the ball boy, apologized, and even gave him his shirt as a gesture of goodwill. The ball boy reportedly told Neto he was sorry around 35 times.
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior also apologized for the incident, saying if there was anything wrong from their side, he apologizes on behalf of the club. UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Neto for unsporting behavior, and he could face a one-game suspension.
“I want to apologise to the ball boy,” Neto told TNT Sports. “I have already spoken to him.”
"We were losing and in the emotion of the game I wanted to get the ball fast and I gave him a little push.
"I'm not like this. It was in the heat of the moment and I want to apologise. I gave him my shirt. I'm really sorry about it - I feel I have to apologise to him ... He could see what had happened and was happy with the situation.”

Luis Enrique's side had a thrilling match, taking a 2-0 lead through Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele, only to be pegged back by Chelsea's Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez. But PSG turned the tide with late goals from Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored a double, putting them in control of the tie.
Chelsea's disappointment was palpable at full-time, with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen visibly frustrated as he tried to head straight down the tunnel. Robert Sanchez had to urge him back to applaud the travelling supporters, showing some respect for the fans.
Chelsea's focus now shifts to their Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday, before hosting PSG on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
