Manchester City is on the brink of winning the WSL league title for the first time since 2016, thanks to Vivianne Miedema's quick-fire first-half double that led them to a 3-0 derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Miedema's goals, a header from a corner and a brilliant passing move, set the tone for City's dominant performance. Kerstin Casparij added the third goal four minutes into the second half, sealing City's victory.

The win takes City to 49 points from 19 games, with Arsenal rising to second place with 38 points and two games in hand. Arsenal's 5-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates pushed Manchester United down to third on goal difference, while Chelsea remains fourth with 37 points.

Lauren Hemp's shot hit the crossbar in the 16th minute, and a minute later, Vivianne Miedema capitalized on the corner, scoring with a looping header that evaded Phallon Tullis-Joyce's dive, giving City the lead.

Miedema struck again just two minutes later, scoring with a downward header from Kerstin Casparij's cross, after City's brilliant passing move left United's defense in tatters. The Dutch duo's chemistry was on full display as Miedema capitalized on the opportunity.

Casparij netted the third goal four minutes into the second half, converting at the far post after Lauren Hemp's cross flew just out of Bunny Shaw's reach. The Dutch international's finish sealed City's dominant 3-0 win over United.

“I really believe in my group of players that no matter what team we play, if we play with this confidence, then many teams will struggle against us,” ‌City's Swedish coach Andre Jeglertz said.

“Things can still happen in the three games left, and we need to keep performing, but I can't see ‌that pressure being too much because we are so open with it. The players have been very good at handling it.”

It was a day of intense WSL derbies, with Liverpool edging Everton 3-2 in the early kickoff. Meanwhile, Arsenal's England striker Alessia Russo stole the show, netting a hat-trick within the first half-hour against Spurs, helping her side to a 5-2 win before a crowd of 46,123.
