Svenska Cupen Roundup: Mjallby & Hacken Lead the Charge
Mjallby cruise to quarterfinals, Hacken lead group 7

Latest updates from Svenska Cupen group stages, featuring wins for Mjallby, Hacken, Sirius, and Elfsborg. GAIS & Hammarby secure crucial wins in Svenska Cupen group stages, while Sirius & Elfsborg set up quarterfinal decider.

Mjallby near quarterfinal spot after 3-0 win, while Hacken lead Group 7 following 4-1 victory...

Hammarby made it two wins from two in the Svenska Cupen Group Stage with a thrilling 5-3 win over Orebro. Nahir Besara scored a hat-trick, and Moise Kabore netted a brace.

Hammarby started strong, with Kabore putting them ahead, but Orebro responded quickly through Christopher Redenstrand.

Besara restored the advantage before the break, then he and Kabore looked to have put the Stockholm side out of sight by both completing their braces in the first 20 minutes of the first half.

Yet from 4-1 down, the Superettan side almost pulled off a comeback, as Antonio Yakoub reduced the deficit almost immediately, then Hampus Soderstrom made it a one-goal game with seven minutes to play.

Hammarby sealed the win late, with Nahir Besara completing his hat-trick and the scoring in the 5-3 thriller. This puts them top of Group 2, two points ahead of Oster, who thrushed Brage 4-1 with Filip Olsson scoring a hat-trick.

In Group 3, Sandsviken were on course to cause the upset of the round when they went 2-0 up against GAIS, only for the Allsvenskan side to turn things around and run out 3-2 winners away from home.

Christian Wagner and Alan Carleton had the Superettan side two goals ahead inside 15 minutes, but the match swung back in the Mackerels' favour two minutes into first-half added time, when Filip Beckman reduced the deficit.

Djurgarden made light work of IFK Skovde, thrashing them 8-0 in a one-sided Group 5 match. Nino Zugelj and Oskar Fallenius scored braces as the Iron Stoves dominated, scoring four in each half.

Djurgarden needs a win over Brommapojkarna to progress. BP leads with four points, level on goal difference with Djurgarden after beating Falkeburg 4-1 at home.

Sirius and Elfsborg's big wins continue in Group 8, setting up a deciding match next time out for a quarter-final spot. Sirius thrushed Helsingborg 4-1, while Elfsborg edged Sundsvall 1-0.

With better goal difference, Sirius only needs a draw to progress.

A winner-takes-all clash is set in Group 6, with Malmo top on goal difference, having both teams won their opening matches. Erik Botheim scored a brace in Malmo's 4-0 win over 10-man Karlstad, while Halmstad edged Varberg 1-0.

Group 4 is wide open: Goteborg crushed Trelleborg 4-0 but leads Degerfors only on goal difference after Degerfors drew 1-1 with Ostersund. Ostersund's two points puts them in contention for a quarterfinal spot.
