Soroka joins elite company with immaculate inning for D-Backs...

Michael Soroka made a stunning debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks, throwing an immaculate inning and dominating the Detroit Tigers 9-6. He struck out Javier Baez, Kerry Carpenter, and Gleyber Torres with just nine pitches, becoming the first pitcher in the 2026 season to achieve this feat.

Soroka's impressive performance didn't stop there – he tossed a five-inning shutout, allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters. This impressive outing marked his fourth team in four seasons, having signed a one-year, $7.5 million deal with the Diamondbacks in the offseason.

Last season saw four immaculate innings thrown, with at least one happening every year since 2006 - the only exception being 2005. An immaculate inning is a rare feat, and Soroka's achievement puts him in elite company.

Soroka joins Hall of Famer Randy Johnson (2001), Byung-Hyun Kim (2002), and Wade Miley (2012) as the only Diamondbacks pitchers to throw an immaculate inning. This impressive group showcases the team's talented pitching history.

An immaculate inning is when a pitcher strikes out three batters in a row, using exactly nine pitches - three strikes per batter. It's a rare and impressive feat that requires precision and skill.

The Arizona Diamondbacks (0-3) are looking to turn their season around, and they're currently up 8-2 against the Detroit Tigers. A win tonight would give them their first victory of the season.
