Atalanta defeats Verona 1-0, with Marten de Roon making history and Davide Zappacosta scoring the winning goal...

Atalanta secured a win against Verona thanks to Davide Zappacosta's goal, making it a special day for club legend Marten de Roon. This victory comes after Atalanta's Champions League exit, where they were eliminated by Bayern Munich midweek. The team is also struggling in Serie A, having gained only two points from three rounds.

Gianluca Scamacca suffered another injury setback, but there's hope with Charles De Ketelaere and Giacomo Raspadori returning to fitness. Verona, on the other hand, is missing key players like Armel Bella-Kotchap, Domagoj Bradaric, Sandi Lovric, and Suat Serdar.

Marten de Roon marked a milestone with a special day, becoming Atalanta's all-time record appearance maker with 436 games. The midfielder has been a key player for the team, and this achievement is a testament to his dedication and commitment.

In a thrilling match, Lorenzo Montipò made a flying save to block Nikola Krstovic's towering header, but Davide Zappacosta's clever roll across the six-yard box almost gifted Ederson an easy tap-in. Thankfully, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro was on hand to block the shot with a sensational save, keeping the score level.

Atalanta took the lead thanks to Davide Zappacosta's stunning strike. He drilled the ball hard and low from the edge of the area, and it took a deflection on the way through, bending back the goalkeeper's gloves into the far bottom corner.

Verona had a golden chance to level just before halftime when Kieron Bowie flicked on Rafik Belghali's cross from six yards. However, Marco Carnesecchi pulled off an astonishing reaction save to keep the score intact.

Charles De Ketalaere's brilliant intercept set up a great chance for Nikola Krstovic, who was sent clear on goal. However, his lobbed effort bounced off the top of the crossbar as Lorenzo Montipò came rushing out.

Verona's chances continued to slip away, and they really should've equalised on 77 minutes. Gift Orban had time and space to control a knockdown, but his shot from 12 yards sailed over the bar. Montipò had earlier made a crucial save on a Mario Pasalic cross-shot, keeping Atalanta in the game.

Gift Orban kept Atalanta's defense on their toes with a shot from the edge of the area, testing Marco Carnesecchi. Rafik Belghali also had a chance, but he lost his balance while dribbling into the box and his finish was blocked by Isak Hien.
