NHL Recap: Philadelphia Flyers played against Boston Bruins and won 3-1, Alexander Ovechkin scores 920th, 921st goals, Montreal wins 6-2. Cozens, Bathurst Lead Charge Cozens, Bathurst score two goals each, Ottawa wins 5-2. San Jose rallies past Edmonton, Connor McDavid records three assists.

Charlie McAvoy and Zach Werenski made franchise history for their respective teams, the Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets, over the weekend. McAvoy, a Team USA Olympic gold medalist, scored his 100th career goal, becoming the 12th defenseman in Bruins history to reach the milestone. Meanwhile, Werenski extended his point streak to nine games, a career high and the longest ever for a Blue Jackets defenseman, with 13 points (2 goals, 11 assists).


Flyers Edge Bruins 3-1, McAvoy Scores 100th 

The Flyers came out on top against the Bruins, winning 3-1. Travis Konecny and Jamie Drysdale scored for Philly, while Charlie McAvoy netted his 100th career goal, a milestone for the Bruins defenseman. Sean Couturier sealed the win with an empty-netter, giving the Flyers their second straight win [2VxS][acjp].




Werenski Leads Blue Jackets in Loss to Islanders 

Zach Werenski extended his point streak to nine games with an assist, setting a Blue Jackets record for defensemen. He contributed to Mason Marchment's goal, putting Columbus up 2-0, and later assisted on Adam Fantilli's goal. Despite his efforts, the Blue Jackets fell 4-3 to the Islanders.




The Islanders came back strong, scoring the game-winner in overtime through Simon Holmstrom's 14th goal, after a scoreless third period. This capped off a three-goal comeback, securing the win for New York


The Islanders move to 34-21-5 with the win, while the Blue Jackets drop to 29-21-8. Would you like more on the game or other NHL action?


Sharks 5-4 Oilers: Sharks' Wild Ride Ends in Win 

The Sharks stormed to a 3-1 lead with first-period goals from Celebrini, Misa, and Goodrow. But the Oilers fought back, with Evan Bouchard cutting the lead to 3-2 in the second. Trent Frederic tied it early in the third, setting up a wild finish.


The Sharks pulled off the win with goals from Alexander Wennberg (11) and Shakir Mukhamadullin (4), improving to 28-25-4. Edmonton struggled to keep up, despite Connor McDavid's three assists, which boosted his league-leading total to 68.




McDavid's performance marked his 18th multi-assist game and sixth with at least three in one game. The Oilers dropped to 29-24-8 with the loss. 


Devils Beat Blues 3-1, Jack Hughes Contributes

Jack Hughes, the hero of Team USA's Olympic gold medal win, added to his impressive season with his 27th assist in the Devils' 3-1 victory over the Blues. Timo Meier, Dougie Hamilton, and Nico Hischier scored the goals for New Jersey, improving their record to 29-29-2.




The win marks a strong bounce-back performance for the Devils, who had lost five straight games prior to this matchup. Luke Hughes, Jack's brother, also contributed with an assist in his first game back from injury.


Rangers Comeback Stuns Penguins 3-2 in Shootout 

The Penguins led 2-0 early, but the Rangers stormed back with goals from Mika Zibanejad and Taylor Raddysh, sending it to overtime. Vincent Trocheck scored the game-winner in the shootout, securing the win for New York. The Rangers improve to 23-29-7.



Igor Shesterkin stood strong in net for the Rangers, recording his ninth 30-save game of the season. The Penguins, meanwhile, dropped to 30-15-13 with the tough loss.



Avalanche Dominate Blackhawks 3-1, Bedard's Goal Falls Short 

Connor Bedard's 25th goal wasn't enough to lift the Blackhawks, who struggled to get shots on goal (15) and dropped to 22-28-9. The Avalanche, meanwhile, got a strong performance from Cale Makar (2 goals) and company, improving to 39-10-9.



Hurricanes Roll Past Red Wings 5-2, Extend Streak 

The Hurricanes are on fire, riding a 12-point streak after beating the Red Wings. Taylor Hall and Shayne Gostisbehere led the charge with one goal and two assists each, while Aho, Robinson, and Blake added the other goals.


Carolina improves to 38-15-6, while Detroit drops to 34-20-6. 



Kings Shut Out Flames 2-0, Snap Losing Streak 

Alex Laferriere's even-strength goal and Adrian Kempe's empty-netter gave the Kings the win, snapping a five-game losing streak. Anton Forsberg recorded his second shutout of the season, stopping all 29 Calgary shots.


The Kings improve to 24-21-14, while the Flames drop to 24-28-6. Dustin Wolf had a solid game for Calgary, stopping 35 of 36 shots. 




Senators Dominate Maple Leafs 5-2, Cozens and Bathurst Shine

The Senators exploded after the Leafs' early lead, with Dylan Cozens and Drake Batherson each scoring two goals. Ottawa's offense was too much for Toronto, outshooting them 40-23.


The Sens improve to 29-22-9, while the Leafs drop their third straight, falling to 27-24-9. 



Sabres Blitz Lightning 6-2, Norris Shines 

The Sabres exploded for five straight goals, with Josh Norris scoring twice and Rasmus Dahlin leading the charge with three points. Buffalo's hot streak continues, winning three straight and sitting third in the East.


The Sabres improve to 35-19-6, looking strong as they aim for a playoff spot. 




Tampa dropped to 38-16-4, losing their second straight game, and now sit above the surging Sabres in the Eastern Conference standings.


Ovechkin's 920, 921 Can't Save Caps, Fall to Habs 

Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals, Nos. 920 and 921, in Washington's loss to Montreal. The veteran winger's fourth multi-goal game of the season wasn't enough to lift the Caps.


Cole Caufield led the charge for the Habs with two goals, pushing his season total to 35. Montreal improves to 33-17-9, while Washington drops to 31-24-7. 




Stars Rally Past Predators 3-2 in OT 

The Preds led 2-0 early with goals from Bunting and Stamkos, but the Stars fought back. Wyatt Johnston's power play goal and Nathan Bastian's fourth goal of the season sent it to overtime.


Dallas scored in OT to take the win. 


Jason Robertson scored the game-winner, completing Dallas' comeback with an assist from Johnston. The Stars improve to 36-14-9, extending their win streak to eight games. The Preds drop to 27-24-8. 


Kraken Dominate Canucks 5-1 in Vancouver

Seattle came out strong, dominating the first period and cruising to a win. The Kraken improve to 28-22-9, while Vancouver struggles.
