Jurickson Profar Fails to Overturn Doping Ban, Misses 2026 MLB Season

Jurickson Profar's appeal denied, faces full season suspension

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar won't play in 2026 after failing to overturn 162-game doping ban for second PED offense.

Profar's appeal rejected, misses entire MLB season with $15m salary forfeited...

Jurickson Profar, the Atlanta Braves outfielder, has lost his appeal to overturn a 162-game doping ban and will miss the entire 2026 MLB season. The 33-year-old from Curacao had tested positive for “exogenous testosterone and its metabolites,” a performance-enhancing substance, earlier this month, marking his second PED offense

Profar was previously suspended for 80 games last year after testing positive for a different PED, and this latest ban means he'll forfeit his $15 million salary for 2026. The Braves now have $18 million to reallocate, and fans are wondering if the team will use this opportunity to strengthen their roster.

Profar had appealed the ban, which was the sixth issued for a second performance-enhancing drug positive test since 2014, when MLB made a full-season suspension the penalty for second-time offenders.

Profar will forfeit his $15 million salary for 2026 due to the ban, as part of the three-year deal worth $42 million he signed with the Braves last year.

Profar has a career MLB average of .245, with 995 hits, 125 home runs, and 487 runs batted in over 13 seasons with Texas, Oakland, San Diego, Colorado, and Atlanta.
