Cristian Romero is prioritizing Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League survival over rumors of a potential transfer to Atletico Madrid. The Argentine defender returned from concussion protocols to help Spurs secure a 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid, despite their Champions League elimination.

Romero emphasized his focus on the team's current situation, stating, “The truth is that I'm focused on the situation we're in. I have a lot of respect and affection for the club, and I want to finish the season in the best way possible.”

Atletico Madrid's boss, Diego Simeone, gapped praise for Tottenham Hotspur's captain Cristian Romero, saying he's a “big fan” of the defender's character and skills. Romero, however, tried to downplay the transfer rumors, focusing on Spurs' current situation instead.

Romero's future at Tottenham has been uncertain, with Atletico Madrid and other La Liga clubs interested. Despite signing a lucrative contract extension until 2029, Romero's mixed season and tensions with the club's management have fueled speculation about a potential exit.

“The truth is that I'm focused on the situation we're in,” Romero said after the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"I have a lot of respect and affection for the club and I want to finish the season in the best way possible. We'll see later but the most important thing now is to recover energy to help Spurs.”

Tottenham Hotspur snapped an eight-match winless streak with a thrilling 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid, showcasing one of their best performances this season. This landmark victory has given caretaker boss Igor Tudor a much-needed boost ahead of Sunday's crucial match against Nottingham Forest.

Tudor's side have been struggling, but their committed display against Atletico and a 1-1 draw at Liverpool have lifted spirits. With Spurs just a point above the bottom three, they need a strong finish to avoid relegation.
