Liverpool's poor finishing punished as Richarlison scores late for Spurs...

Richarlison's late equalizer denied Liverpool a win as Spurs fought back for a 1-1 draw, handing Jürgen Klopp's side their first dropped points of the season at Anfield.

Spurs were facing an uphill battle after their Champions League thrashing, but they managed to salvage a point against a Liverpool side looking to close the gap on top-four.

Liverpool got off to a flying start, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring a stunning free-kick in the 18th minute. The Hungarian's curling effort from 25 yards beat Guglielmo Vicario, giving the Reds the lead.

Szoboszlai's goal was the perfect start for Liverpool, who dominated possession early on and deserved the lead. Now, they'd want to keep the pressure on the top-four contenders.

After netting the opener, Liverpool almost immediately doubled their lead when Ryan Graverbech powered into Spurs’ box but blazed his shot over the bar. Minutes later, Cody Gakpo – trusted to spearhead the Reds’ attack – saw his low shot saved onto the post by Vicario.

Tottenham Hotspurs struggled for large parts of the first period but finished the half strongly, as Richarlison flashed a header narrowly wide before the Brazilian was denied by Alisson Becker with another strong header from a corner.

Igor Tudor would've been pleased with Spurs' fighting spirit in the first half, but he's got to be wary of Liverpool's second-half surge. Liverpool's games have produced a league-high 59 goals in the second half this season.

Spurs had a chance to capitalize on Liverpool's left side, with Rio Ngumoha's curling shot flying just past the post. Jeremie Frimpong's pass set up the teenager, but Liverpool breathed a sigh of relief.

Spurs then had an opportunity near the hour mark through Richarlison, who outmuscled Virgil van Dijk, only to see his shot saved by compatriot Alisson.

Arne Slot made a triple change after the hour mark, including the introduction of Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike.

The two substitutes almost combined for the game’s second goal minutes later as the former picked out the latter, but the French forward missed the ball on the stretch. Salah was proving to be a thorn in Spurs’ side, continually running the defence ragged, yet the final ball was lacking.

As the final stages approached, Liverpool’s miscued finishing kept Tottenham in the contest, and they were punished in the 90th minute through their sole danger man, Richarlison

Richarlison latched onto Randal Kolo Muani's pass, took a touch, and fired home. The away crowd erupted as Spurs snatched a late draw.

Liverpool's poor finishing cost them, and they stay fifth, two points behind Aston Villa.

Tottenham's point against Liverpool is a lifeline, moving them a point clear of relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and West Ham. Despite this, they're still winless in the Premier League in 2026, with Igor Tudor's side desperately needing a win to kickstart their season.

The draw at Anfield was a much-needed morale boost for Spurs, who had lost four games in a row before this point. Richarlison's late equalizer was a dramatic finish to a game that had seen Dominik Szoboszlai's free-kick give Liverpool the lead.
