The Atlanta Falcons are heading back to Europe, this time to Madrid, Spain, for their 2026 NFL season game. After playing in Berlin last season, where they lost to the Indianapolis Colts in an overtime thriller, the Falcons will now host a game at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of Real Madrid C.F.

The Falcons will be the home team in this international matchup, but their opponent hasn't been announced yet. The NFL will reveal the full schedule, including the opponent, date, and time, in May. This will be the Falcons' fifth trip to Europe, following previous games in London and Berlin.

The Atlanta Falcons are heading to Madrid, Spain for their sixth international game, and it's gonna be huge! They'll be playing at the iconic Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid, in the second-ever NFL game in Spain. This marks the Falcons' fifth trip to Europe, following games in London, Berlin, and Toronto.

The opponent isn't confirmed yet, but potential candidates include the Chicago Bears or Kansas City Chiefs, given their international marketing rights in Spain. The game is part of the NFL's record nine international games in 2026, across four continents and seven countries.

The Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins made history last season with the first-ever NFL game in Madrid, Spain. The Dolphins took the win 16-13 in overtime, and now the Falcons are bringing more NFL action to Spain.

Rafa de los Santos, NFL Country Manager for Spain, is stoked to have the Falcons coming to Madrid. “We're thrilled to bring another thrilling matchup to Spain,” he said, highlighting the sport's rapid growth in the country.

“The passion for the NFL in Spain is at an all‑time high, and welcoming the Atlanta Falcons to Madrid for a regular‑season game is a historic moment for our growing fanbase,” De los Santos said on the NFL website.

“I'm sure the Falcons will enjoy competing in such an iconic stadium as the Bernabéu, in one of the world's great sporting capitals, Madrid, and that fans will once again experience firsthand the intensity, speed, and talent that make the NFL unique.”

Atlanta Falcons President and CEO Greg Beadles is looking forward to playing in Spain - a country with a unique link to the Falcons: “Atlanta and Madrid are a fitting match as we will host two of Spain's group stage matches in the upcoming FIFA World Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.”

“This opportunity reflects the continued global growth of both the NFL and the Atlanta Falcons, and we look forward to deepening our connection with our European community by hosting another sporting contest here at home and returning to Europe for the fourth time in six seasons.”
