Postecoglou says he's ready to get back to work after watching his old clubs struggle...
Ange Postecoglou is feeling determined and ready to get back to work, saying he's “not done yet” as he eyes his next move in football. The Aussie coach has been out of a job since October, after being sacked by Nottingham Forest, and it's been tough watching his former clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Forest, struggle in the Premier League.
Postecoglou's had a rollercoaster few months, but he's using it as fuel to come back stronger. He's mentioned he'd prefer to start his next job at the beginning of pre-season, allowing him to implement his ideas and build a team. With his experience and success, including winning the Europa League with Spurs, he's got plenty of options on the table.
The Australian is poised to make a return to European football, ready to dive back into the intense and unpredictable world of the sport.
“I want to win things still. I still have that drive and passion to achieve, that hasn't changed,” he told Australian sport's radio station SEN.

Ange Postecoglou. 🇦🇺
Our league form under him was vile last season. BUT - he’ll galvanise this squad, he’ll motivate them. They’ll run through brick walls for him. https://t.co/3Mn7qMaNGM pic.twitter.com/j15fDlozRB
“The fact now it's the first time I'm coming off a bad experience - that's just more fuel for me.
“Wherever I go there will be plenty of scepticism - that's brilliant, that's what I need. Get the gloves, put the helmet on again and go really hard.
“I still feel like what I do still has an impact at this level,” he added. "
“I'm not done yet, mate!”
Postecoglou's being coy about his next move, but he's got a pretty good idea of where he's headed. The 60-year-old Aussie coach is keeping his cards close to his chest for now.
“I think part of it is going to be making sure that the people I work with are ready for what I'm going to deliver and that they understand me as a person and the kind of football (I play), and I see the ambition in them,” he said.
“I know whatever it is going to be, I have this thing in my head that this will be the best one I've done yet because of the recent experiences, maybe I needed them.”
Postecoglou's time at Spurs will be remembered for that Europa League win, ending a 17-year trophy drought for the club. But, despite that success, inconsistent league form led to his departure after just two years.
His next stop was Forest, but it was a tough gig, lasting just 40 days before he got the boot in October.
Ange Postecoglou is feeling a bit uncomfortable watching his former clubs, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, struggle in the Premier League. Spurs, where he won the Europa League last season, are just one point above the drop zone, while Forest are three points behind them. The two teams clashed on Sunday, with Forest handing Spurs a 3-0 defeat at home.
Postecoglou's attachment to Tottenham runs deep, and it's been tough for him to see them in such a precarious position. “To watch them struggle has not been easy and it’s not the way I thought it would go,” he said. Despite his departure, he's still got a strong connection to the club and wants to see them succeed.
“To watch them struggle has not been easy and it's not the way I thought it would go,” he said.
“They're in a hell of a fight, relegation is massive for any club but for Tottenham, it's a pretty big deal.”
“They have some fighting to do and they have the quality to get out. They need a circuit-breaker for sure.”
