Sweden's women's cross-country skiing team continues to dominate, with Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist securing the country's fourth gold medal in the team sprint freestyle event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Swedish duo finished the 9.5km race with a time of 20:29.99, edging out Switzerland by 1.40 seconds and Germany by nearly six seconds.
This win marks Sweden's ninth medal in women's cross-country skiing at the Milan-Cortina Games, with golds in skiathlon, classic sprint, and 10km freestyle interval race. Sundling and Dahlqvist's victory showcases Sweden's strength in the sport.
Maja Dahlqvist stepped in for Linn Svahn, who was ruled out due to illness, and performed impressively, keeping Sweden ahead on her first circuit. Jonna Sundling had already secured a narrow lead on the first lap, setting the stage for Dahlqvist's strong showing.
Sundling faced pressure from Norway's Astrid Slind on lap three but maintained her composure, handing Dahlqvist a 2.3-second advantage at the third exchange. This solid foundation helped Sweden secure a win in the women's team sprint.
Dahlqvist's lead grew to 4.1 seconds at the next changeover, pushing Finland into silver medal position ahead of Canada and the US. However, the competition's still heating up, with plenty of teams vying for a medal spot.

Germany took the bronze medal in a tight finish, edging out Norway by just 0.14 seconds. The United States finished fifth in the women's team sprint freestyle event at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
