Bayern Munich made it to the German Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2020 by beating RB Leipzig 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. This marks their third win of the season over Leipzig, and they're hoping to end their six-year trophy drought.

The match wasn't easy, though. Leipzig had a goal disallowed for offside early on, but Bayern pushed forward, creating several chances. It was Harry Kane who broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, converting a penalty after Leipzig's Maarten Vandevoordt fouled Josip Stanisic. Just three minutes later, Luis Diaz doubled Bayern's lead with a clinical finish.

Bayern's win keeps their treble dream alive, while Leipzig's hopes of adding to their 2022 and 2023 titles are on hold for another year.

A sensational mazy run from Yan Diomande ended with the Ivorian playing in Christoph Baumgartner, who fired into the far corner, but the 26-year-old had his celebrations cut short when a VAR review ruled him offside.

That prompted a strong response from the hosts, with Harry Kane having an effort cleared off the line by Castello Lukeba before the England captain volleyed wide from Michael Olise’s cross.

An entertaining - but ultimately goalless - first half came to a close with both goalkeepers being called into sharp saves from shots by David Raum and Aleksandar Pavlovic.

Maarten Vandevoordt was the hero... until he wasn't. He made a crucial save on Serge Gnabry's shot, but then gave away a penalty, taking down Josip Stanisic in the box. Harry Kane stepped up, scoring the spot kick.

Bayern pushed hard after that, and Luis Diaz sealed the deal, escaping the defense and slotting home Olise's pass.

Leipzig tried to get back in, but Bayern Munich's defense held strong. The Bavarians remain unbeaten in their last 7 meetings, keeping their treble dream alive.

Leipzig's performance was a step up from their earlier thrings, but it'll have to wait for another year to add to their titles. They'll be looking to regroup and come back stronger
