Netherlands Beat Namibia in T20 World Cup
Netherlands' Bas de Leede shines with bat and ball, leading his team to a convincing 7-wicket victory against Namibia.
“It gave us a good look at the wicket, and I thought we adjusted really well as a bowling group...”
Namibia put up a decent fight, scoring 156-8 against the Netherlands, thanks to solid knocks from Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (42), Jan Frylinck (30), and JJ Smit (22). Captain Scott Edwards' decision to field and rotate eight bowlers didn't quite pay off, as Namibia anchored their innings with Loftie-Eaton's efforts.

Gerhard Erasmus, the Namibian skipper, also contributed 18 runs, hitting two fours and a six before falling, showing some intent to launch a counterattack. The Netherlands' Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede took two wickets each, but it wasn't enough to restrict Namibia to a very low score.
“I think we were lucky to bowl first,” player of the match de Leede said. “It gave us a good look at the wicket, and I thought we adjusted really well as a bowling group.
“Later in the game, I felt the pitch started skidding on a bit - so credit to the batters for adapting to that as well.”
Bas de Leede led the Netherlands to a thrilling seven-wicket win over Namibia in their T20 World Cup Group A match, scoring an unbeaten 72 off 48 balls with four sixes and five fours. This impressive performance helped the Dutch chase down Namibia's 157-run target with two overs to spare, marking their first win of the tournament.
De Leede's all-round brilliance was on full display, as he also took 2 wickets for 20 runs in his three overs. The Netherlands' strong bowling effort, led by Logan van Beek's 2/13 and Aryan Dutt's 1/13, restricted Namibia to 156/8. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton top-scored with 42, while Jan Frylinck added 30 runs.
The Netherlands' chase got off to a shaky start, with Max O'Dowd falling cheaply and Michael Levitt (28) unable to capitalize on his early momentum. However, Colin Ackermann's let-off proved costly for Namibia, as he went on to score 32 and form a crucial 70-run partnership with Bas de Leede, putting the Netherlands in a strong position to win.
De Leede's masterful innings continued as he hit Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton for a six, bringing his team within striking distance of the target. He sealed the victory with a four, guiding the Netherlands to a comfortable seven-wicket win with two overs to spare.
Namibia will now face a tough test against defending champions India at the same venue on Thursday, looking to bounce back from their disappointing loss.
