Igor Thiago has signed a new five-year contract with Brentford, extending his stay until 2031, with an option for an additional year. This comes after an impressive season where he's scored 17 goals in 26 Premier League games, earning him the Player of the Month award for January.
Thiago's form has been crucial to Brentford's push for European qualification, currently sitting seventh in the league. Coach Keith Andrews praised Thiago's commitment and impact on the team, saying, “He's been a massive player for us, so it's a contract he thoroughly deserves.”
In a statement, his head coach, Keith Andrews, said: “The connection that he has with his teammates, the staff and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and he means to us, is pretty evident for everybody to see.
“Again, it’s the person before the player. I love working with him, and I’ve loved seeing his evolution as a player. How he plays is such a big part of how we play and what our season has been so far.
“He’s been a massive player for us, so it’s a contract he thoroughly deserves, and I’m really happy that the club have been able to get it done.”

The former Ludogorets and Club Brugge forward, Ivan Toney, has been on fire this season! He signed with Brentford in February 2024, but a meniscus injury delayed his debut until November. Now, he's leading the charge, with only Erling Haaland scoring more Premier League goals than him.

Brentford drew 1-1 with Arsenal midweek and faces non-league Macclesfield Town in the FA Cup on Monday night. Toney's impressive form is a welcome boost for the Bees, who are looking to turn their season around.
