EPL: Crystal Palace Edge Wolves 1-0, End Winless Run

Crystal Palace Vs Wolves
Late strike hands Palace win

Palace climb to 13th after Guessand's late strike sinks Wolves. Crystal Palace beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0, with Evann Guessand scoring a late 90th-minute winner goal sends Palace to victory over 10-man Wolves.

This should've given Palace a boost, but they continued to struggle to create chances...

Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Selhurst Park, thanks to a 90th-minute winner from substitute Evann Guessand. This victory extends their winning streak against the Premier League's bottom side to six matches.

The hosts had an early chance to take the lead when Yerson Mosquera's underhit backpass was latched onto by Yeremy Pino, but his effort cleared the crossbar despite Jose Sa being off his line. Wolves' Ladislav Krejci was sent off for two bookings in three minutes, leaving his team with 10 men.

The Eagles kept pushing forward and had another chance just before the 15-minute mark. A corner found Ismaila Sarr at the back post, but Hugo Bueno blocked the forward's effort, preventing a likely goal.

The visitors started to gain momentum from this point. Tolu Arokodare had a tame effort from just inside the area, easily collected by Dean Henderson. Palace's goalkeeper then made a great save, pushing Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's free-kick from just outside the area behind.

Palace kept threatening, with Pino hitting the post with around 10 minutes of the first half remaining.

His team then conceded a penalty six minutes later when Adam Wharton brought down Mateus Mane inside the area. Henderson was up to the challenge, denying Arokodare's spot-kick. Rob Edwards' side missed the chance to add to their league-low one first-half goal away from home this season.

The second half was slow to take off. But just after the hour mark, Wolves' defender Ladislav Krejci was shown a second yellow card for kicking the ball away, leaving his team with 10 men and an uphill battle ahead.

This should've given Palace a boost, but they continued to struggle to create chances against a resilient Wolves side, who've lost eight of their last 11 league games in London.

Prior to this clash, Edwards' men had conceded 50 goals in the Premier League this term. They had dug in admirably, but their resolve was broken in the final minute when Guessand's close-range shot beat Sa, sending home supporters wild.

This last-gasp victory ended Palace's eight-game winless run at home. They climbed one place to 13th, opening up a 10-point gap to the relegation zone.

Wolves are really struggling, aren't they? They're winless in their last 16 league away games, and despite putting up a good fight today, they're still 19 points behind safety with just 10 games left. It's looking tough for them.
