Ronaldo Returns, PIF clears path for Al Fateh showdown

Cristiano Ronaldo ends strike at Al Nassr after PIF addresses issues. Portuguese star set to return against Al Fateh on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo is ending his strike at Al Nassr after resolving issues with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi sovereign wealth fund backing the club. The 41-year-old Portuguese superstar had missed recent matches against Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad due to disagreements over financial backing and management autonomy. Talks between Ronaldo, Al Nassr management, and PIF reportedly addressed his concerns, including unpaid staff salaries and the return of key executives like CEO Jose Semedo and Sporting Director Simao Coutinho.

Ronaldo is expected to return to action on February 14 against Al Fateh, after missing the AFC Champions League match against Arkadag FK. His demands included more investment in the team, autonomy for club management, and stronger action against those undermining the leadership.

During this meeting, according to the same source, the PIF settled all outstanding salaries at Al Nassr and transferred the necessary funds to cover the club’s expenses until the end of the season.

Jose Semedo’s authority at the club was also reinstated, meaning the main issues that led Cristiano Ronaldo to refuse to play for Al Nassr have been resolved, except for concerns about winter transfer investments, particularly those made by Al Hilal, the current leader of the Saudi league.

With this, Cristiano Ronaldo is back in contention for Jorge Jesus and is expected to start against Al Fateh on Saturday in the 22nd round of the league.

Al Nassr faces Arkadag from Turkmenistan in the AFC Champions League 2 Round of 16 on Thursday, but Cristiano Ronaldo will likely sit this one out. He'll be protected, just like in previous matches, and is expected to be saved for the Al Fateh league match on Saturday.
