Egypt coach Hossam Hassan announces 28-man squad for Africa Cup of Nations, with Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, and Mahmoud Trezeguet leading the charge.

Salah's inclusion comes after a rocky patch at Liverpool, where he was an unused substitute in recent games...

Mohamed Salah is trading Liverpool's tension for Morocco's sunshine as he joins Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations squad. The 33-year-old winger, who's been at odds with Liverpool manager Arne Slot, will get a break from the Premier League action, but will miss at least two league games for the Reds.

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan announced the 28-man squad, and Salah is joined by other big-name players like Omar Marmoush (Manchester City) and Mostafa Mohamed (Nantes). The Pharaohs will start their campaign against Zimbabwe on December 22, followed by matches against South Africa and Angola.

Salah's inclusion comes after a rocky patch at Liverpool, where he was an unused substitute in recent games and missed out on the Champions League squad against Inter Milan. But with FIFA ruling that players only need to join national teams a week before the tournament, Salah will be available for Egypt's crucial matches.

Liverpool star Mo Salah sparked controversy with comments after the draw with Leeds, claiming he's been made a scapegoat for the team's struggles and his relationship with manager Arne Slot has soured. Salah was an unused sub against Leeds and West Ham, and was left out of the squad for the win at Inter Milan.

The Egyptian forward's comments have caused a stir, with many questioning his commitment to the club. Salah's form has been under scrutiny, and his absence from the squad has fueled speculation about his future at Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah is set to be available for Liverpool's game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, as FIFA has ruled that players only need to join their national teams a week before the Africa Cup finals. This means Salah will miss at least two league games for Liverpool, as he'll be representing Egypt in the tournament, which kicks off on December 21. During his absence, Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers, two tough opponents.

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush has also been included in the squad, alongside former Aston Villa player and current Al-Ahly winger Mahmoud Trezeguet.

The seven-time champions will start their campaign against Zimbabwe on December 22, before facing South Africa four days later, and will conclude the group stage against Angola on December 29.
