Emmanuel Emegha suspended by Strasbourg ahead of Chelsea move

Strasbourg striker Emegha apologizes after suspension for failing to respect club values, ahead of move to Chelsea. Emegha, who thought Strasbourg was in Germany, suspended for one match, says 'I will do better...'

“I want to make it clear that I never intended to hurt anyone. Since arriving here at 19, I have always given everything for Strasbourg...”

Emmanuel Emegha has apologised for comments that led to his one-game suspension by Strasbourg. The club reportedly took action after he made remarks about the team and city.

Emegha, the Strasbourg captain, allegedly said the team lost games against top clubs because he was injured and also mentioned thinking Strasbourg was in Germany before joining the club from Sturm Graz. He's now facing the consequences of his comments.

Strasbourg has suspended captain Emmanuel Emegha for one game due to comments he made about the club. He'll miss Saturday's match against Toulouse as a result.

Emegha apologised on Instagram, saying “I will do better” and that he accepts and understands the suspension. The Dutch striker is hoping to put the incident behind him and get back on track.

“I'm 22 years old, I've made mistakes, and I know I still have a lot to learn. And I have to learn from this,” Emegha said.

“I know I need to do better, and I will do better, on the pitch and off it, to represent the club. That's important to me.”

Emmanuel Emegha is set to leave Strasbourg in the summer of 2026, with Chelsea reportedly waiting in the wings. Despite the controversy, he's proud of his time as club captain.

Fans had criticized manager Liam Rosenior's decision to give Emegha the armband, but the striker seems unfazed. He's focused on his own performance and is looking to make the most of his remaining time at Strasbourg

“I want to make it clear that I never intended to hurt anyone. Since arriving here at 19, I have always given everything for Strasbourg. I'm proud to play for Racing, and I'm proud to wear the captain's armband.

“Last weekend, when I stepped onto the pitch, it was the biggest emotion I've ever felt as a Strasbourg player. The applause when I came on, the kids cheering me during the warm-up... it truly moved me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Emmanuel Emegha met with Strasbourg's owner Marc Keller, and he's grateful for the advice he received. Despite his suspension, Emegha is staying positive and will be cheering on his teammates in Toulouse this weekend.

“Sometimes my words can be misunderstood, especially if you don't know me. But one thing is certain: I have the utmost respect for Strasbourg, for Alsace, for La Meinau, for our supporters, for my teammates, and for the entire club. On Saturday, I'll be behind the team like a supporter at 200%.”
