Women's Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday after breaking her ankle during training with the Spanish national team. The Barcelona midfielder suffered the injury on Sunday and will be out for several weeks.
Bonmati's absence is a huge blow to Barcelona, who are currently top of the Liga F table. She's been instrumental in the team's success, scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances this season. Her injury is also a concern for Spain's upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Bonmati faces an extended absence, with reports suggesting over three months out if surgery is needed. She'll miss Tuesday's Nations League final second leg against Germany and several club matches.
