Wolves' nightmare start, fans Lose Patience with owners

Wolves' woes deepen as fans chant 'We want Fosun out' and 'You're getting sacked in the morning' after 3-0 loss to Fulham.

“I'm not worried about myself. I'm worried about my team...”

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans directed their anger at the club's Chinese owners and manager Vitor Pereira after the team's 3-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday, leaving them at the bottom of the Premier League table without a win. The frustration was palpable among the travelling fans, who made their feelings known with chants of “You're getting sacked in the morning” directed at Pereira.

The fans' discontent was evident as they voiced their displeasure with Vitor Pereira's leadership, echoing the same chants that suggested they had lost confidence in their manager. The 3-0 defeat was a crushing blow, and the pressure on Pereira and the club's owners appears to be mounting. “Maybe the worst performance from my team. Maybe the worst technically, tactically, physically. We suffered. I never saw my team playing in the level we can play,” Pereira said, acknowledging the team's poor performance.

“Maybe the worst performance from my team. Maybe the worst technically, tactically, physically. We suffered. I never saw my team playing in the level we can play,” Pereira told BBC.

Fans at the match voiced their discontent with chants of “We want Fosun out,” targeting the Chinese investment group that acquired the club in 2016 and chairman Jeff Shi, as Wolves struggle in the league.

Wolves have two points from 10 games, leaving them eight points adrift of the safety zone.

“Today I'm not proud about our work. I don't need anybody to judge my work, I judge my work, I judge myself.

“I'm not worried about myself. I'm worried about my team. What we showed today, we need to talk about it. I cannot accept what we did today.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers are still searching for their first win of the season, with their winless run now stretching to 14 games, including the final four matches of last season.

The match at Craven Cottage got off to a bad start for Wolves, as Ryan Sessegnon put Fulham ahead after just nine minutes. The visitors' task became even more daunting when Emmanuel Agbadou was sent off before halftime. Harry Wilson doubled Fulham's lead around the hour mark, and Yerson Mosquera's own goal sealed a convincing 3-0 victory for the hosts, leaving Wolves humiliated.

'We should be embarrassed'

“It's just not good enough and we need to do better. We should be embarrassed. They might not want to hear it but we apologise to the fans,” Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone told Premier League Productions.

“We're trying our best but we have to keep going. We've got good players and just need to turn it around quickly.”

Wolves' dismal start to the season eerily mirrors last year's troubles, with the team failing to win their opening 10 games, a fate that ultimately led to the departure of manager Gary O'Neil in December.

Despite the team's struggles, Wolves extended Vitor Pereira's contract for three more years in September, showing faith in his ability to turn things around. However, with the team still rooted at the bottom of the table, Pereira's position is precarious, and he may soon face a similar fate to his predecessor if results don't improve. Last season, Pereira was hailed as a savior after guiding Wolves to safety with a 16th-place finish.
