Monaco ended their three-match losing streak in Ligue 1 with a thrilling 1-0 win over defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. This victory marks a significant turnaround for Monaco, who had struggled in their previous matches.

The win was all the more impressive given PSG's recent form, having won an eight-goal thriller against Tottenham in their midweek UEFA Champions League game. In contrast, Monaco had drawn against Pafos in their Champions League fixture.

The hosts started strong, with Mohammed Salisu having a volley saved by Lucas Chevalier. Salisu had previously scored a late own goal against Pafos. Luis Enrique's team soon took control, dominating possession and creating chances, but Vitinha's low drive from the edge of the box was thwarted by Lucas Hradecky.

Monaco always carried a threat going the other way, but Chevalier continued to stand tall, denying Takumi Minamino an opener before Salisu did have the ball in the net, only for his strike to be ruled out for offside.

The home side picked up right where they left off following the restart as Vanderson fired at goal. The Parisians were struggling to impose themselves on the contest, and Monaco took full advantage, opening the scoring in the 68th minute.

Aleksandr Golovin was released down the left, and his cross into the box was superbly controlled by Minamino, who took a touch before slotting past Chevalier for his second goal in as many games.

A goal to the good, Monaco looked to be heading for a first victory in six meetings, but their task was made a lot more difficult with 10 minutes to go when Thilo Kehrer was shown a straight red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity by hauling down Ibrahim Mbaye.

PSG's attempts to capitalize on their extra man in the final 10 minutes were unsuccessful, and they ultimately dropped points. The result sees Monaco move up into the European places, just a point off the top four.

Monaco's win was a significant boost, ending their three-match losing streak. PSG, on the other hand, had been on a three-game winning streak, which has now come to an end.
