Kaizer Chiefs snatched a late point against Zamalek, thanks to a goalkeeper error. Dillons Solomons scored his second goal in as many games, as Mohamed Sobhi spilled a routine cross into his own net in the 96th minute.

Zamalek had dominated the game, creating more chances and stifling Kaizer Chiefs' scoring opportunities. The Egyptian side looked set to take all three points, but Sobhi's mistake gifted Chiefs a point.

The AmaKhosi have just 1 point from 2 games, making qualification a challenge. Zamalek, on the other hand, leads with 4 points, while Al Masry tops the pool with 6 points. Only the top 2 teams qualify for the knockout rounds.

Zamalek struck early, taking the lead in under 3 minutes. A mix-up between Brandon Petersen and Inacio Miguel gifted Seifeddine Jaziri an easy goal, which he converted with ease.

Gaston Sirino almost hit back with a spectacular shot from the halfway line as he spotted Zamalek goalkeeper Sobhi slightly out of position and fired a powerful drive. It had the beating of the keeper but not the post and the visitors had a slice of good fortune in keeping their lead.

Chiefs lost both Sirino and defender Bradley Cross to injuries inside the opening 20 minutes, which did not help their cause.

Zamalek had a goal disallowed in the early minutes, sparing Kaizer Chiefs' blushes. Inacio Miguel's mistake led to a scoring chance, but the goal was ruled out, much to Chiefs' relief.

But the officials felt the Tunisia international had pushed Miguel as they competed for the ball. If there was a touch it looked slight.

Chiefs had a piece of good fortune five minutes after the break as a melee in the box resulted in the ball trickling towards their goal. This time Miguel came up trumps and scooped it off the line with the Zamalek players closing in.

That defensive error by Sobhi proved costly, as Solomons capitalized on the mistake to level the game. The point keeps Chiefs in contention, albeit with a tough road ahead.

Chiefs' next CAF Confederation Cup game is against ZESCO United in Zambia, post-Africa Cup of Nations. Domestically, they'll face Chippa United and TS Galaxy in their remaining Betway Premiership games
