Jack Hinshelwood's return from injury was a game-changer for Brighton, scoring the winning goal in an 84th-minute strike to secure a 2-1 comeback win over Brentford at the Amex Stadium. This thrilling victory propels Brighton to fifth place in the Premier League.

Brentford had taken an early lead through Igor Thiago's ninth Premier League goal of the season, his seventh in seven games, converting a penalty awarded after Dango Ouattara was fouled by Carlos Baleba. However, Brighton turned the game around with Danny Welbeck equalizing in the 71st minute, and Hinshelwood's decisive goal six minutes later.

Brighton had to wait until the 71st minute to score, thanks to Danny Welbeck's clever finish from Yankuba Minteh's cross. They had been looking good in the opening stages, attacking Brentford through the middle, but Carlos Baleba's mistake gifted the visitors a penalty, which Igor Thiago converted coolly.

Thiago had done well to hold up the ball on the right, laying it off to Dango Ouattara, who was fouled by Baleba, earning the penalty. This setback didn't deter Brighton, as they pushed for an equalizer, and Welbeck eventually delivered in the 71st minute.

Georginio Rutter was Brighton's standout player in a mediocre first half, and he felt he should've been awarded a penalty when Yehor Yarmoliuk appeared to trip him up shortly after the break. The VAR disagreed, letting play continue.

Danny Welbeck then squandered a great chance to score, blazing over from just 10 yards out. The in-form striker was unhappy with himself, having been presented with a golden opportunity to put Brighton ahead.

Brighton kept pushing forward, with Yankuba Minteh's effort forcing Caoimhin Kelleher into a great save. Danny Welbeck then seized the opportunity, scoring his seventh goal in seven league matches. This was a crucial moment in the game, as Brighton looked to turn the tide in their favor.

Brentford had a chance to equalize late in stoppage time, but it was snatched away by Bart Verbruggen's incredible penalty save. Igor Thiago had taken the spot-kick, but Verbruggen was having none of it, guessing the right direction and making the save. This sealed Brighton's 2-1 win, and they moved up to fifth in the Premier League table.
