Feyenoord secured their first UEFA Europa League win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Panathinaikos in stormy Rotterdam.
The match had a chaotic start, with Storm Benjamin prompting not one but two schedule changes - first from 18:45 CET to 16:45 CET, and then again to 21:00 CET due to the storm's early arrival.
Starting with youngster Aymen Sliti on the left wing, manager Robin van Persie and his team were hoping to claim their first European victory of the season after losses to Braga and Aston Villa in the opening two rounds.
The home side thought they'd gone in front early when Sem Steijn fired the ball past Bartolomiej Dragowski in the tenth minute, but it was not to be, as the one-time Netherlands international was flagged offside.
Panathinaikos took the lead through Karol Swiderski, who capitalized on a rebound to slot the ball past the Feyenoord goalkeeper in the 18th minute.
Feyenoord struggled in the first half, plagued by sloppy play and a lack of clear chances, with players struggling to connect passes and find each other in the final third.
However, they managed to level the score at halftime, thanks to Givairo Read, who headed home Aymen Sliti's cross with the last touch of the half.
The Rotterdam outfit opened the second half brightly and quickly claimed their first lead of the evening when Anis Hadj Moussa fired the ball past Dragowski following a flawless dribble.
After momentarily being given a penalty that was taken away after a VAR check, and despite Luciano Valente's creatively sound display, Feyenoord kept Panathinaikos alive after keeping the foot off the gas for the majority of the second half. Hadj Moussa, Steijn and Ueda all fired shots at the Greek goal, but did not put the home side up three.

The match was effectively sealed in injury time when Canadian substitute Cyle Larin scored the rebound from his own shot, putting Feyenoord up 3-1.
Young winger Leo Sauer had a chance to seal a 4-1 win with a one-on-one opportunity against Dragowski in the final minute of injury time, but he couldn't find the target. Fortunately for Feyenoord, it wasn't needed, as they secured their first UEFA Europa League win of the season.
