A goalless draw against a resilient Lazio side at the New Balance Arena marked Atalanta's fifth draw of the Serie A season. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Atalanta couldn't find the breakthrough, leaving them in mid-table with 2 wins from 6 matches.

Under new coach Ivan Jurić, Atalanta's season has gotten off to a stop-start beginning. Still unbeaten, they've won just two of their opening six Serie A matches. Coach Jurić's post-match comments highlighted the team's struggles, noting that while Atalanta has good ideas and football, they're missing the end product - goals.

Ademola Lookman, a key player for Atalanta in recent seasons, started his second match of the season after his attempted transfer in the summer fell through. His limited match fitness was evident in the first 45 minutes.

The team struggled to create scoring opportunities in the first half, managing just one shot on target courtesy of Davide Zappacosta's low drive, which was saved by Ivan Provedel. Despite dominating possession, Atalanta looked less threatening than Lazio, who, although not creating many chances, seemed more potent.

The goalless halftime scoreline was a fair reflection of the match. Lazio's Toma Basic threatened with a long-range free-kick that tested Marco Carnesecchi, while Mattéo Guendouzi's effort sailed wide. Atalanta struggled to create meaningful chances in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half told a different story. Atalanta came out strong, dominating possession and creating numerous chances. The hosts poured forward, putting pressure on Lazio's defense, and looked likely to take the lead as the game wore on.

Ademola Lookman had a promising start, heading over the crossbar from a great position. Honest Ahanor then had a chance, poking wide from close range at the back post. Ederson also tested the goalkeeper, firing a shot straight at Provedel.

Provedel made a string of impressive saves, including a stunning diving stop to push Lookman's low shot past the post. He also dealt comfortably with Nikola Krstović's deflected effort, showcasing his shot-stopping ability.

Davide Zappacosta hit the post, and Marten de Roon's follow-up was well saved by Ivan Provedel. The stop was crucial in denying Atalanta the lead.

Lazio failed to create any meaningful chances on the counter, but their goalkeeper's heroics earned them a point. Provedel's impressive saves kept Lazio in the game, and they returned to Rome with a valuable draw.

The draw leaves Lazio only four points clear of the bottom three, and they'll be keen to improve their performance when they host Juventus next week. A stronger showing will be crucial for their league aspirations.

Atalanta may feel they did enough to secure the win, but coming up short will be frustrating. However, keeping a clean sheet is a positive note, even if it's only their second in 12 competitive matches.
