Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has no regrets over his passionate celebration that earned him a red card after the Blues' thrilling 2-1 win over Liverpool.
“It was a huge emotion (against Liverpool)...”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed zero regrets over his passionate celebration that earned him a red card after the Blues' thrilling 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Maresca's instinctive reaction to sprint down the touchline and join in the jubilant scenes at Stamford Bridge was “worth it,” he said, after Estevao Willian's dramatic late winner sealed a memorable night for Chelsea.
Maresca's red card will result in a suspension for Chelsea's upcoming match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, October 18, as the Premier League resumes after the international break. Despite missing his side's next game, Maresca believes the emotional moment was worth the price of a suspension.
“It was a huge emotion (against Liverpool). It's my second season at Chelsea and it was the first time we won at home in the last minute,” he said.
“The sending-off? (I’ve said) many times, football is passion, instinct. I probably didn't have time to think. It was an instinctive reaction, but I think it was worth it.”
